The big picture

One of the world’s most biodiverse regions, the Albertine Rift is home to a series of extraordinary landscapes, stretching from Uganda to southern Tanzania, and includes the Greater Mahale Ecosystem. Under threat from climate change, population growth, and regional instability, it faces an uncertain future. Pulling together decades of conservation work, this 2016 big picture Conservation Action Plan for the Albertine Rift by the Wildlife Conservation Society suggests ways for moving forward.
