When speaking Tongwe

This survey into the community’s language development finds the Tongwe are not adequately Swahili bilingual, that Tongwe is closely related to Bende, and that - given the high level of Tongwe interest in their own language - there is a call for Tongwe language development. Published in 2015 by SIL International, A Sociolinguistic Survey of the Tongwe Community also gives fair insight into our socioeconomic position vis-a-vis the wider Tanzanian community.
